Ride Description
- One of the classic rides of Texas. Let's hope the bluebonnets are blooming.
- It is essential that you take a minimum of two large water bottles or Camelbac. There are no convenience stores per se. Harry's On the Loop (beer/burgers) is still open (?); the hours are a little unpredictable. The Willow City Volunteer Fire dept. is still there and has a water faucet.
- This ride is relatively remote so major mechanicals will be a serious pain in the you-know-what. Please make sure your bike is in good mechanical condition and that you have spare tubes, tools etc.
- The Loop road is public but the shoulders/verges are not. It is essential that you honor the rights of the private landholders. Also, be very careful of motorized tourist traffic.
- Optional lunch will be afterward here: https://woernerwarehouse.com/
- Most of my rides are for self-confident riders who are comfortable and safe in a group riding situation which could (depending on the route) include pace-line riding, hilly terrain and exposure to urban traffic. Helmets are required on all my rides.
- Routes will be posted in RWGPS format and cue sheets are printable from that site. I do not distribute printed maps or cue sheets unless requested by email 24 hours in advance.
- Ride will be “no drop”, assuming riders have properly matched themselves to the ride description, average speed and terrain.
- Please arrive early enough to prepare yourself + bike, have the 5-minute safety briefing to be ready for an on-time departure.
- In case of inclement weather, check this web site early on the morning of the ride.
