This is a north to south urban ride from the Peddler to the La Familia store in south Austin. Most of the ride is on neighborhood streets, but there is some riding on busy streets with bike lanes.
Depending on time and rider consensus, we may return by way of Congress Ave or we may try to intersect Brandon's Mangiasaurus ride to Wheatsville on South Lamar. Both Congress and S. Lamar are busy, but have bike lanes. If any rider is uncomfortable riding on those streets, we will follow the posted route.
The average speed will be 13-15 mph, but speeds will likely be 15-20 mph on flat straightaways. This is a no-drop ride and we will regroup at turns and hilltops as necessary.
Riders should bring helmets, water, spare tube, and emergency identification. Please leave headphones, earbuds, and loudspeakers at home.
Parking is available north of 51st on Duval and on side streets around the Peddler. Please don't park in the alley behind the Peddler and The Flight Path Coffee House.
We will leave promptly at 8:30. Please arrive at least 10 minutes early for sign in and ride orientation.
