Ride Description
  • Urban ride.   Almost no turns on this ride - almost the entire ride is just two streets.   Fun bridge crossing at the end of 51st over 183. Southern Walnut Creek trail has very few road crossings, with some great views.
This route is 40 miles, but can be shortened to 30 miles (by eliminating the southernmost 4 miles of the Walnut Creek trail, by diverting to the tennis center only once, and eliminating the extra mile loop at the end).
  • Good bathroom stops available at the Austin Tennis Center and the Senior Center in Manor.
  • Parking: There is construction happening across from my house - you should park a few houses away.
  • Be careful:
    1. Parts of 51st street can be pretty busy
    2. Watch for pedestrians and cyclists on Southern Walnut Creek Trail
  • Store stop: as needed (on 51st)
  • Lunch/coffee: We could stop at the Starbucks on Lancaster (off 51st)  or Epoch Coffee on North Loop at the end.
  • My rides are for self-confident riders who are comfortable and safe in a group riding situation which could (depending on the route) include pace-line riding, hilly terrain and exposure to urban traffic.
  • Helmets are mandatory on all my rides.
  • Routes will be posted in RWGPS format. Printed maps or cue sheets will not be available at the ride start.
  • Ride will be “no drop”, assuming riders have properly matched themselves to the ride description, average speed and terrain.
  • Please arrive at least 15 minutes early to prepare yourself + bike, have the 5-minute safety briefing to be ready for an on-time departure.
  • In case of inclement weather, check this web site early on the morning of the ride.
