A nice ride from Lockhart, Texas over some very scenic roads.
Trying to get this annual enticing "road-trip" ride in before the end of this year. For those still in the working class, this ride might well be worth getting a day off from work.
Join us for this ACA classic route in the relatively flat expanses of Central Texas. We'll travel on some quiet country roads (some are "vintage" chip seal and a little bumpy---air up your ties accordingly!) doing a steady "B+" paced (14.5 -16.5 mph) no-drop ride, with re-grouping as needed at the next turn.
With the forecasted mild late fall weather, we can choose from (or stop at both) 2 store stops: in Rockne at 22 miles and/or in McMahan at 37 miles. Total climbing is 2125 ft. (per RIDEwithGPS)
NOTE I: This route is revised on the leg north from FM 86; because of heavy construction on FM 1322 south of Lockhart. We'll be turning off of FM 1322 onto Seawillow Rd. (CR 205) at mile 45.4 and riding north thru the community of Seawillow before continuing straight on Lay Rd, at mile 52.7, getting back on FM 1322 just before entering Lockhart. We've not ridden on these roads before, but we have been advised they are good for riding and very scenic.
NOTE II: The RIDEwithGPS link is provided here for downloading.
NOTE III: Helmets are required on ALL Bike Austin rides.
Come to ride 56 miles -- rolling out at 9:00 AM. (maybe even roll at 8:58 !)
Let's all hope for good riding weather!
For all those interested (all are invited), we'll do lunch after the ride at Black's BBQ, in Lockhart: meeting up with William & his riding group !!
Meet at the Lockhart City Park at the corner of Flores St. (FM 672) & Carver St. Just east of the Plum Creek Elementary School (ride start map location attached). Rest Rooms are NOT available at this location.
Check this posting ride day morning in case of a weather cancellation.
