Join us for a variation on our North to Alaska ride. This ride goes up through north central Austin and then crosses Mopac at Water's Park Road into the neighborhoods of northwest Austin. The full ride goes past RR 620 to Lime Creek Road and back (unless you are going on to Alaska), but there are several self-guided opportunities to shorten the ride for those who don't want to go the full distance. There is some urban riding, but most of the ride is in bike lanes or on quiet shady neighborhood streets. There are some short steep hills in the first half of the ride that may challenge riders unused to hills. This is a no drop ride and we will regroup at corners and hilltops as necessary. Average speed will be 13-15 mph, but the group may go faster on flat straightaways.
Riders should bring a helmet, spare tubes, and emergency ID. Please leave headphones, ear buds and loudspeakers at home.
Please sign in online and arrive at least 10 minutes early for route briefing. We will leave promptly at 8:00. Parking is available north of 51st on Duval and on the side streets around Duval. Please don't park in front of the Peddler or in the alley behind.
