Peddler to Creedmoor

Road, No Drop
Rides suitable for cyclists who are new to the sport (or who have not been on a bike for some years), family-friendly rides or any riders that feel a need for some mentoring. Note: please note that minors under the age of 16 cannot participate in rides unless accompanied by a parent or guardian. Families with children should, in any event, confirm with the ride leader ahead of time that the ride will be suitable for their needs.

Targeted towards riders who have a few years in the saddle, who have developed some riding confidence and fitness and feel ready to move to the next level. Could attract more experienced riders who are looking for a relaxed or less aggressive ride.

Limited to experienced riders with superior bike handling skills and who are comfortable with a fast pace (probably including single and/or double pace-line riding) and/or hilly terrain, and the possibility of heavily trafficked roads. Advanced rides are less likely to be "no-drop" unless identified as such.

The ride goes out through the east side of town and includes parts of Wickersham and Oltorf. The return will take us through downtown. There will be a store stop in Creedmoor. Average speed for the whole ride will be 13-15 mph, but speeds on flats and straightaways may be faster. This is a no-drop ride and we will regroup at turns and hills as necessary.

Parking is available north of 51st  St on Duval and on the sidestreets around Duval. Please don't park at the Peddler and Flight Path nor the alley behind them.

Riders should bring helmets, water bottles, and a spare tube. Please leave headphones at home. Please arrive at least 10 minutes before the ride for sign in and ride advisory. We will have coffee and conversation after the ride at the Flight Path Coffeehouse.  Note that we will cancel the ride in case of rain or wet roads.  Ride status will be updated by 7 a.m.  Please refresh your browser to make sure the ride is on before leaving home.

Peddler to Creedmoor
This is Joel Morgan's Peddler route out to Creedmor in a clockwise (CW) direction, but skipping the Walnut Creek Hike/Bike Trail.

The route heads east to Springdale before turning south to McKinney Falls Park. Around mile 15 we usually make an optional pit stop in the park before continuing to the Creedmor store stop at mile 22.

We return through south Austin, cross Lady Bird Lake over the 1st St bridge, then proceed through U.T. and up Duval back to Flightpath for coffee.
